Overview
The Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, Qatar, held about 60,000 spectators during the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Its form was drawn from the Bayt Al Sha’ar, the traditional tents used by nomadic families. This gave the stadium a cultural link and one of the most striking profiles in the tournament.
For the roof, the builders installed LCP Lycorseam® Aluminium panels under the tensile membrane. Around 1,500 m² of panels were fitted. The aluminum is light but strong, helps with cooling inside, and withstands desert heat and wind. It also requires little maintenance over time.
